Dear TrapFree New Mexico Friend,

We know it’s only been a few days since you last heard from us, but things are moving fast and in the right direction! On Friday, the Senate Judiciary Committee endorsed Roxy’s Law (Senate Bill 32) with a 5-1 do pass voteThe bill could be voted on by the full New Mexico Senate as early as tonight.

The time is now for every New Mexican to engage in this process. No matter where you live in the Land of Enchantment, your senator will have a vote on SB 32 and they need to hear from you. This is a momentous opportunity in our effort to get dangerous, cruel, and indiscriminate traps off of public lands.

Please take 5 minutes:

  1. Look up who your NM senator is here.
  2. Call your senator’s Capitol Phone number and ask that they support Senate Bill 32. You may have to leave a message. Be polite and brief and make clear that you are a constituent.
(We ask that you make phone calls because emails are getting lost in this chaotic virtual legislative session).
  3. Pass this email along to your friends, family, and neighbors who care about safe and humane public lands.

If you need talking points, we have put some together for you here.

If you want even more, we put out a full report on trapping in New Mexico here.

We have only gotten this far because of people like you caring and engaging. Trap-free public lands are within reach and your continued efforts are going to be key to getting this legislation across the finish line.

Thank you for all you do!
